I have spent much of my life on, in or near water. Fishing, swimming, scuba diving, sailing. When I moved to Western NY and walked along the shores it was not uncommon to see Coho Salmon washed up on the beach in various stages of decay. Fascinated by these large salmon and the way their bodies change when they spawn, I decided to carve one in lino that is life size. I carved one but my vision changed and I hated it. So I carved a second one that I liked much better. 250,000 coho salmon stocked annually in Lake Ontario and its tributaries by New York State.
Coho head - printed on cyanotyped Kozo paper.
A gift in appreciation to Lori whose comment made me continue to carve it again a second time and not give up.
