Shades of Blue

Fabricated from 2-1/2 inch strips cut from Kona cotton and sprayed with cyanotype solution. Botanical materials were added and exposed in the sun for 4 hours. The strips were rinsed and dried. Some were then toned in citric acid for a bright blue, others were bleached with borax and some of those were toned in tannic acid. The purpose of this quilt was to show workshop participants the variety of colors that can be achieved when cyanotyping fabric. I believe its important to show objects created from this process, and not just the process in a workshop.

The quilt was finished in May 2020.
